How do you set up a trial period?

117 views 1

There are two ways to set up a trial period in ProAbono.

  • The “Trial Period” option on a subscription
  • The welcome offer

1/ The ‘Trial Period’ option on a subscription

This is the fastest way, but be aware: it has a significant limitation.
How to activate it?

In the configuration of the subscription, you can specify the duration and price of this trial period.

In the configuration of each feature, you can indicate if it is free during the trial period, allowing your customers to test paid options.

How does it work?

The subscription starts with the trial period you have defined.

In case of a plan change during the trial period, the duration of the trial period is adjusted to match the new offer.

In case of a plan change after the trial period, the new subscription will not have a trial period.

Attention: if the customer cancels and restarts a new subscription, they will once again benefit from a trial period.

This mode of operation is generally more suitable for multi-subscription pricing models.

2/ The welcome offer

This is the most common model in SaaS.
The customer who signs up receives X days of trial. At the end of this period, they must choose a paid subscription.

How to activate it?

Via API. When your customer completes their registration, start their welcome offer immediately.

How does it work?

The subscription starts at registration.

At the end of this period, the customer will no longer be subscribed. You simply need to set up a page for them to select the paid plan that suits them.

The advantage of the welcome offer is that you can more strongly customize what the customer is entitled to during this period: it’s up to you to decide if you want to give them all rights or impose very limited rights to encourage the customer to pay.
