As described in the post “What is a Segment“, a segment is a subset of a Business with its own customers, offers and currency.
New Segments should be created when your business needs are the following :
- different billing rules,
- different currencies,
- separate customer referential,
Some businesses need to split :
- customers by their profile : small-sized business, medium-sized business and entreprise. They do NOT want a medium-sized business to see and subscribe/upgrade to offers dedicated to small-sized businesses.
- offers by the location of the customers. Their offers are quite different in Europe, US, Africa, … different currencies, payment methods, options, prices …
- customers by the lead source : They have partners and they want to distinguish direct customers and referred customers. Partners do NOT want a referred Customer to see and subscribe/upgrade offers dedicated to direct customers.
